Water Distribution
The Water Distribution Division operates and maintains the city's water distribution system to provide customers with a reliable source of water for fire protection, residential, commercial, and industrial consumption. The division administers a back flow prevention program, leak detection and repair program, hydrant and valve maintenance program, and a system flushing program, in addition to making taps for new customers.
Water Treatment Plant
The Water Treatment Plant Division operates and maintains the city's 5 well ground water system. The city has a storage capacity of 430,000 gallons in reservoirs and 550,000 gallons in elevated storage tanks (a total of 1,055,000 gallons). The division currently produces 1.4 million gallons per day. The city has a new water treatment plant (future storage capacity of 1,000,000) with iron filtration. The division is responsible for producing potable water which meets the safe standards and criteria established by the EPA and SCDHEC. All 5 water plants are classified as "C" level water treatment plants and must be operated 7 days a week by certified "C" level or higher licensed operators.
Wastewater Treatment Plant
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Division is responsible for operation and maintenance of the city's wastewater treatment plants and sewage lift stations/wastewater collection system. The plant is operated in compliance with all EPA and SCDHEC regulations to ensure that all treated effluent discharged into Little Pee Dee River and applied onto Cypress Pond Spray field meets permit limits.

The division also administers a sewer use and industrial pretreatment ordinance, and monitors all industrial waste discharged into the system. The Little Pee Dee River Treatment Plant is designed to treat and discharge 4.0 million gallons per day to the Little Pee Dee River, 1.0 million gallons per day to a 35 million holding pond located at Cypress Pond Treatment Plant. The Cypress Pond Treatment Plant is designed to treat 1.0 million gallons per day, which in turn is land applied (sprayed) on an 1100 acre spray site (Cypress Pond Spray field) only of which 637.3 acres are actually sprayed.
The Little Pee Dee River Treatment Plant currently treats approximately 2.3 million gallons per day, and the Cypress Pond Treatment Plant treats 0.5 million gallons per day. Both treatment plants are classified as "A" wastewater treatment plants, and must be operated by an "A" level licensed operator 7 days a week. The division also operates and maintains 22 sewage lift stations and Wastewater Collections System seven days a week.
:: Water/Sewer Services Contract ::

The Water and Sewer Superintendent(Hardy Jackson) and Director(Tammy Jackson) oversee the water distribution system, wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, and the wastewater collections system. All three divisions maintain on-call status' to provide 24-hour trouble service.
