The Fire Department has 3 full time engineers and 26 volunteer firefighters, and 1 full-time Fire Chief. It is located at 209 South 8th Avenue at the W.B. Carmichael Fire Station. A sub station is located on West Main Street extension.

The department has a 2000 American LaFrance Ladder truck, 1998 Freightliner Pumper, 1986 GMAC Pumper, 1997 LaFrance Pumper and an equipment van. Responding to all fires within the city and providing mutual aid to other fire agencies, the department also responds to all gas leaks, bomb threats, alarms, chemical leaks, and provides fire prevention education to our youth in elementary schools during Fire Prevention Week. They also provide and install smoke detectors for the elderly.

The Fire Department is a member of the South Carolina Fireman's Association and has an ISO rating of 5.
